Objectives:
- To develop the leadership capacity and community-building
skills of the faculty, staff, and students of the partner
institutions;
- To create learning communities that support and cultivate
a collective process and that empower individuals within the
institutions and in surrounding communities to address leadership
challenges and opportunities for the future;
- To promote activities and projects that emphasize collaboration
with and between institutions and active engagement of faculty,
staff, and students in local communities;
Some of this project's activities are:
- Create a curriculum for leadership development and community
building based upon needs assessment;
- Develop a Mentor Program in which faculty and staff participate
as mentors;
- Implement a mini-grants program to promote inter-institutional
collaboration and active engagement in local communities for
faculty and staff;
- Implement a Community Scholars Program for college students
from partner institutions with high financial need;
- Convene a project conference to reflect on outcomes and
lessons learned and plan for future engagement
