Project: Leadership for Institutional Change-Ohio
Leading Institution: The Ohio State University

Objectives:

  • Implement conversations/dialogues within the university community that includes external partners which helps individuals and units determine their personal and collective vision for outreach/engagement;
  • Empower members of the university community to develop collaborative leadership initiatives that will strengthen Ohio State's outreach/engagement and which are responsive to community needs;
  • Develop a broad group of leaders who have the skill to implement policy, program, procedures, and funding changes that will support outreach/engagement that is concurrent with their mission and integrated into other activities of the unit; and
  • Institute outreach/engagement initiatives that demonstrate Ohio State as being more responsive to societal needs.

Some of this project's activities are:

  • Convene dialogue sessions including a university-wide symposium, continuation of outreach/engagement Roundtables, continuation of Read/Reflect/Dialogue Sessions, and others;
  • Support the expansion of the Outreach and Engagement Council to include representation from all colleges, regional campuses, academic support units, faculty, staff, etc.;
  • Provide grants to interdisciplinary teams to institute outreach/engagement that contributes to the university-wide focus on 1) P-12 education, 2) food and environment, 3) public and social services and public policy, 4) communities, families, and individuals, 5) business and industry, and 6) health and wellness;
  • Work with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement an outreach/engagement initiative to include policy, program, procedure, and/or funding change which will support continued dialogue with external constituents and sustained institutional change
