The focus in Phase 1 of the California Leadership Initiative is the structure and quality of leadership in the state's post-secondary educational institutions.
During Phase 1, project conveners are organizing inter-collegiate forums to foster discussion about collective leadership, participatory decision-making, and shared responsibility. The forums will bring together students, faculty, administrators, and non-academic stakeholders to generate strategies for improving the effectiveness of post-secondary educational institutions. During Phase 2, these strategies will be implemented.
The goal of the California Leadership Initiative is to institutionalize mechanisms to support efficiency, creativity, and trust within participating institutions, the intended outcome being increased institutional capacity to respond to community needs.
