People in the Pacific Northwest value an excellent educational system that constantly expands the knowledge base of the food system and makes it available worldwide. The knowledge is used to maintain and enhance the food System including production, processing, distribution, and consumption. This, in turn, improves human health and quality of life and environmental quality by providing a safe, high quality, affordable food supply. Food system education and research is sufficiently supported by public and private funding sources and includes successful partnership among different types of organizations. Lifelong learning focuses on the learner with emphasis on individualized, flexible, innovative teaching methods. Teaching and research facilities are located to best serve learners and are technologically up-to-date. A global infrastructure allows all people to broaden their knowledge throughout their lives and to communicate food system information and ideas freely. |
