Reinvent
The
Ohio State University College of Food, Agriculture, and Environmental
Science has undergone a significant cultural change. Programs now have
expanded foci, with emphases on environmental compatibility and social
responsibility as well as the more traditional emphasis on production
efficiency and economic viability. OSU's Project Reinvent has created
an open environment were faculty, staff, administrators, and external
partners can and do engage in meaningful dialogue to discuss and solve
problems in critical areas. The college has adopted new guidelines for
faculty rewards that include an expanded definition of scholarships
and more clearly articulate an expectation for excellence. The teaching
program has evolved to a more student-centered approach, where students
and faculty learn together as partners. The college is well on its way
to truly being a learning organization that makes a difference in Ohio
and in the world.
